My little girl started gymnastics!!

I have dreamed a long time about this day. I truly hope she loves gymnastics as much as I do. I painted her nails and found the cutest little leotard. I can't wait to make popcorn and watch the Olympics on tv. To teach her a cartwheel (why haven't I done that yet?) To talk about our favorite gymnasts and make up routines! Here she is (forgive the green socks!):

This is the moment...

I'll never forget. I was 13 years old and had just been at a Karolyi summer camp with Bela, Mary Lou, and Julianne McNamara. Mary Lou was doing something very simple... I think a round off dismount off the beam. Somehow she twisted her knee and to all the girls horror she fell in a heap. 6 weeks before the Olympics. I remember Bela at one moment with his head in his hands, just devastated. She was taken away. I can't remember if there was an ambulance. As a little gymnast, I knew she would not make it to Los Angeles. It seemed impossible. When I heard she had to have surgery I was sure her chances were doomed. We all know how it turned out. I will never forget this moment.
