London Olympics 2012

My tickets have been purchased for the Women's All Around Team finals and Women's Individual All Around finals.  Yahoo!!!  I went to these events in Atlanta and Sydney.  I might as well keep going.  Thrilled to be taking my kids to London!!

Mia

It was your turn to show your best trick.  You were so sweet.  This is the moment before it all went South.
The mat fell too early and you weren't able to do your back extension roll.  There were many parents in the gym and you got embarrassed and ran into my arms.  I loved  that.  You are the sweetest.  Maybe next time you will just try again.

My favorite picture

I wrote about this picture in another post, and thought I had lost it in the fire. I am so relieved to say that BEHOLD! It has NOT turned to ash.

We're on our way!

I'm on my way! French braids, sparkly hair, adidas warm ups, beam shoes, chalk...
They have pretty handstands.

Blog absence

Two days after my last post, my house burned down! We are still waiting to be able to move home. Thankfully, we all made it out just in time. Our sweet pets were not so lucky. I am now back in action. I am happy to say that most of my gymnastics memoribilia was at my mom's house (I'll put up photo's soon) except my most coveted photograph: A photo from the camp in KY I mentioned earlier of me with Mary Lou Retton and Julianne McNamara just before the Los Angeles olympics. Julianna had signed it at camp but Mary Lou had been injured and was gone. A couple of years later my mom stood in line for hours to get her autograph (Thanks Mom!). I must say, I grieve for that photo. I had on a cute little esprit shirt over my leotard - an aqua tank top. Julianna had her grips on and chalk on her leotard. Mary Lou had a cute, crooked smile. You could see the shadow of my dad taking the photo above her head. I remember my Dad just pushing me up there and I was embarrassed but thrilled. It's hard to believe they were also just little girl's because truly I couldn't even speak around them. I remember going into the bathroom and as I entered Mary Lou came out of the stall. I went in and just could not get over the fact that Mary! Lou! Retton's! Butt! was on this seat seconds before mine!! Ha Ha.

My little girl started gymnastics!!

I have dreamed a long time about this day. I truly hope she loves gymnastics as much as I do. I painted her nails and found the cutest little leotard. I can't wait to make popcorn and watch the Olympics on tv. To teach her a cartwheel (why haven't I done that yet?) To talk about our favorite gymnasts and make up routines! Here she is (forgive the green socks!):
